Last week was Daniel & my five year anniversary. I can't believe how fast it came! He surprised me with Marc Jacob's new fragarance Lola.

 

It smells just like a lovely fresh floral bouqet featuring some of my favourite blooms, peonies.

"In 2008, John Maloof purchased an anonymous body of photographic images at an auction in Chicago. After spending seven months reviewing the photographic material in his possession, he found written, almost illegibly on one of the sleeves of film, the name Vivian Maier." - The Design Observer Group. 

Vivian Maier (who passed away shortly before her work was discovered in 2009) is now considered one the most prolific street photographers of the 1950s - 1990s. To find out more check out John's blog where he uploads her beautiful work to share.

Fooled

Ok, so I really didn't fair too well... already (it's only 9:30am!). A bloke at work got me! First thing in the morning!

You see, we had our Staff Meeting this morning and we always kick it off with a round of 'Good Morning News'. Basically, it is just a chance for everyone (I only work in a small team of 11 people) to share some news about something awesome that happened last week or something awesome that they are going to make happen the coming week. It is lots of fun and everyone gets involved.

This week started like any other with people sharing their plans for the next four days off, people sharing hot cross buns and chocoloate bunnys that they had bought in for the office (yes, my workplace is amazing), people telling funny anecdotes from the passed week and unbeknownst to us, people waiting to fool us by announcing that they won $10,000 last night!

Telling it back, it sounds so obvious but at the time we were all so convinced and happy for him we never even considered the fact that he might be a fooler in disguise! He said, "well, my good news is I bought a scratchie last night and won $10,000" and he delivered it so nonchalantly with a cheeky grin (which we mistook for sheer shock and happiness) that we believed him wholeheartedly; then he decided to wait long enough for us all to congratulate him and tell him how much he deserved it before following it up with, "and you all know today is April Foold Day, right?". What a shifty character! And he is so chuffed with himself, he can't wipe the smile off his face!

April Fools Day

I have a love-hate relationship with this day! I love that it brings everyone's mischievous side out to play but I feel a little weary for the duration of the day for fear that I might end up the fooled rather than the fooler. Who are you more likely to end up as?

Take Kimo Nakajimi as an example. He was definiely fooled. In 1981 The Daily Mail ran a story about an unfortunate Japanese long-distance runner, Kimo Nakajimi, who had entered the London Marathon but, on account of a translation error, thought that he had to run for 26 days, not 26 miles. Reportedly Nakajimi was now somewhere out on the roads of England, still running, determined to finish the race. Various people had spotted him, though they were unable to flag him down. The translation error was attributed to Timothy Bryant, an import director, who said, "I translated the rules and sent them off to him. But I have only been learning Japanese for two years, and I must have made a mistake. He seems to be taking this marathon to be something like the very long races they have over there."

The Verdict

Cotton candy and ombre locks are popping up everywhere. So, what's your take on this trend?
